International Day of Forests 21st March Donate Fundraise What is the International Day of Forests? 21st of March is the International Day of Forests, and we want you to get involved and celebrate with us! The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 21st March the International Day of Forests in 2012, and on this day thousands of people around the world get involved to shine a light on one of our most precious natural resources - forests. International Day of Forests 2026 Trees make life better for all of us - for people, for nature, and for the planet we share. They cool and clean the air we breathe, store carbon, reduce flooding, and provide sustainable materials that support our everyday lives. In the fight against climate change, trees are one of our greatest allies. Beyond all the physical benefits, time spent among trees and in nature is proven to lift our mood, calm our minds, and strengthen our overall well-being. Join us in celebrating the International Day of Forests in 2026. This year’s theme, “Forests and economies,” shines a light on the vital role forests play in driving economic prosperity and supporting livelihoods around the world. Let’s come together to recognise not only what forests give us, but how we can give back! Read our blog: Trees that pay back: International Day of Forests 2026 Read now How we support forests We have planted over 2.75 million trees and shrubs in and around the 61 square miles that makes up the Forest of Marston Vale , taking tree coverage in the area from 3.6% to 16.9% in under 30 years. We create and care for woodlands so our local communities can enjoy and benefit from them, while also nurturing the rich wildlife habitats that make these spaces thrive.
